How to report a death
If you use the Tell Us Once service (see below), you do not need to contact us separately.
If you need to tell us someone has died, you can call us on 03300 241 359.
We will ask you for the person's:

We will send you, or the appropriate person, a letter requesting more detailed information and explaining the next steps. To help decide what benefits are payable, we will request documents such as:
- death certificate
- marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate
- birth certificates
- evidence of an eligible cohabiting partnership
