How to tell us you want to retire
When you want to retire, you will need to inform us of:
- your leaving date
- how you want to take your pension
If you plan to retire early, you must give at least 3 months' notice, even if your contractual notice period is shorter (see below).

- confirm your personal details
- confirm your pension choices
Early retirement
If you are planning to retire before your normal pension age, you must give at least 3 months' notice in writing before you complete the form.

Retiring due to ill health, redundancy, or flexible retirement
If you are retiring due to ill health, redundancy, or flexible retirement, you must speak to your employer before completing the form.
What your employer will do
Your employer will notify us of:
- your leaving date and reason for leaving
- your pensionable pay and final pay
- your pension entitlement
